About

Jeff Marlink has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and in accordance with the patent cooperation treaty (PCT). Additionally, Jeff has managed and worked with foreign associates in prosecution of patent applications in foreign jurisdictions and prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) of patent applications with original filings being in foreign jurisdictions.

Jeff has assisted large corporations to solo inventors in patent prosecution and preparation in many technical areas, including electronic hardware, computer software, telecommunications, mechanical devices, and footwear. Whether it is management of the client’s patent portfolio, prosecution in view of the client’s marketing objectives, or guiding the client through the patent process, Jeff strives to effectively achieve the client’s goals.

Prior to practicing patent law, Jeff had the pleasure of working on evaluation of a power system for a large electronics company, and electrical design and testing for a small technology furniture company, as well as preparing customer and troubleshooting documentation for the furniture company. Jeff’s experience with these companies helped Jeff to understand the importance of interrelation of technology areas within a product (such as the intertwining of mechanical components, electrical components, and computer software) and the value provided to customers that result in the success of the product. The lessons gained from this experience are applied to ensure that the patent protection gained benefits the client’s business goals.
